On the morning of September 16th, the "Starting Point of the Silk Road" was hosted by Xi'an Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Weiyang District People's Government and Xi'an Jiaotong University, and undertaken by Weiyang District Culture and Tourism Sports BureauThe "2023 Xi'an Silk Road International Students Exchange Activity" was officially launched in Xi'an. Zhao Feng, Deputy Director of Xi'an Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Hou Yunsheng, Deputy Director of Weiyang District Government, experts, scholars, leading teachers, and 100 Chinese and foreign university students attended the launching ceremony.

Zhao Feng said in his speech that Xi'an is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization and the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, and hoped to take this event as an opportunity to build a bridge of cultural exchanges, further strengthen exchanges between young people along the Silk Road, and jointly continue to write a new chapter of the Silk Road.

Hou Yunsheng mentioned in his speech that Weiyang has an enlightened and open urban character since ancient times, and has always been an important town for Sino-foreign exchanges and blending, and a series of cultural tourism activities will be held here, hoping that everyone will walk more in Weiyang, take a look, feel the Chinese civilization, and understand the development of Weiyang.

Ji Ting said in her speech that Xi'an Jiaotong University will continue to carry forward the concept of inclusiveness, embrace outstanding young people from countries along the Silk Road with a broad mind, and cultivate high-quality talents with the heritage of Jiaotong University, Chinese feelings and international vision for the construction of the Belt and Road.

At the event site, representatives of international students from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and other five Central Asian countries and university students from cities along the Silk Road in China formed a team to participate in a unique cultural exchange activity at the site of Han Chang'an City. Reading Han books, the ancient style of Chang'an came to the face, and everyone stopped to take a group photo, punched in and sent circles, and won countless likes.

Li Si, an international student from Tajikistan, stopped in the front hall of Weiyang Palace for a long time, and he said with great interest, "In this exchange activity, I deeply felt the prosperity and splendor of the ancient Silk Road, and also understood the important role of Weiyang Palace in the ancient Silk Road, which witnessed the exchanges and mutual learning between different countries and regions on the ancient Silk Road." An international student from Kazakhstan was very moved after listening to Zhang Qian's story, saying: "I am amazed by the dedication of famous Chinese historical figures to the Silk Road, allowing us to better understand China's splendid history and civilization and perceive the long-standing Silk Road culture."

Subsequently, Chinese and foreign students visited Han Chang'an City Exhibition Hall, Xi'an Gate, Seoul Lake Silk Road Museum and other venues together, learned about the development history of the Silk Road, appreciated the silk fabrics of different crafts in different periods, and felt the progress and innovation of weaving technology.

In the subsequent exchange activities, the students will also visit the Daming Palace National Heritage Park, Xi'an Museum, and the China-Europe train, watch the live-action drama "The Legend of Camel Bell" with the "Belt and Road" as the main line, and gather at SJTU to talk about their feelings and gains from this exchange activity.

This event aims to implement the requirements of "promoting exchanges between universities and university students" in the list of outcomes of the China-Central Asia Summit, and the deployment arrangements in the Xi'an Declaration of the China-Central Asia Summit that "all parties are willing to continue to consolidate cultural and tourism and other humanities cooperation and enrich the forms of youth exchanges". Relying on Xi'an's rich cultural tourism resources, build a bridge of cultural exchanges, further strengthen communication and exchanges between young people along the Silk Road, deepen the in-depth understanding of the Silk Road among young people along the Silk Road in Central Asia and China, and jointly continue to write a new chapter of the Silk Road.
